The Ice Palace, The Hippodrome O2 ABC Glasgow
once housed Scotland’s first cinema in 1896 and
over the years was also known as and Hengler’s
Circus until reverting to its cinema status in the
20th Century in various incarnations as the Regal,
the MGM, Cannon and of course, the ABC until 1999.
Converted to a concert venue in June 2005
following an extensive £2m conversion by
Regular Music O2 ABC Glasgow is one of Scotland’s
Every Thursday night the o2 ABC hosts a club
night named Jelly Baby, with Jelly Baby nights
being hosted in four major cities through Scotland,
this is Defiantly Glasgow’s biggest student night
which has an attendance of over 2,000 club goers.
A £5 entrance fee and cheap promotional
drinks at £1, you can defiantly go out on a budget.
Having said that if you like your club nights to
be more intimate and the venues to have a bit of
character, the o2 is not for you. There’s crowds of
people jumping about right across the dance floor,
with drinks being spilt and cues for the toilets it might
not be to everyone’s taste.
